Training for Search Engine Evaluators

What is a search engine evaluator?

A search engine evaluator provides educated feedback and critical insights for search engine companies like Google.

The core of the job is to assign quality ratings for webpages and relevance ratings for search results. The search engine company uses raters' feedback to evaluate if a given tweak in their algorithms should go through or not.

If you are interested in other work from home opportunities besides search evaluation, make sure to explore these work at home sites that are similar to Appen and TELUS International.

To rate pages and results, search evaluators must follow the instructions of these general guidelines.

A search engine evaluator may also be called web search evaluator, Internet analyst, Internet assessor or search quality rater. These are all different terms that refer to the same role.

Which course should I buy?

The General Guidelines Training course:

  • Slightly targets part 1 of the exam, which is focused on testing your theoretical understanding of the guidelines. "Slightly targets" means that some parts of the course are somewhat helpful for that part of the exam.
  • Moderately targets parts 2 and 3 of the exam, which consists of hands-on tasks focused on Quality and Relevance (Needs Met) rating. "Moderately targets" means that some or many parts of the course are helpful for that part of the exam.

The SEA Model - Master Search Evaluation course:

  • Doesn't target part 1 of the exam.
  • Moderately targets part 2.
  • Highly targets part 3, which is focused on Relevance (Needs Met) rating. "Highly targets" means that many parts of the course are very helpful for that part of the exam.

If you are on a budget, a plausible preparation strategy would be to enroll in the SEA Model course only if and after you’ve failed your first attempt at the exam as many failing applicants are given a second chance -- this is not guaranteed though.

You save over 20% with this bundle that includes both courses.
